Perinton Town Supervisor Mike Barker today (Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018) announced his retirement from town government effective Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018.
Barker, who was first elected Perinton Town Supervisor in 2014, was first elected to a public office in 1992 when he became a member of the Fairport Village Board.
He plans to go back to teaching, which he did in the Fairport School District for more than 27 years.
“I have loved serving the residents of Perinton and will miss interacting with the community on a day-to-day basis,’’ Barker said. “I’m excited about teaching and working with young people again.”
Deputy Supervisor Joe LaFay will be acting supervisor until the Perinton Town Board appoints a successor.
