Former Town of Perinton Board member Patricia S. Knapp will be inducted into the Fairport Alumni Wall of Fame on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018. The induction ceremony is at 5:30 p.m. in Room 512 of Fairport High School.
Knapp was a Perinton Town Board member from 1981-2013 and was also the clerk of the Monroe County Legislature from 1984 until 2001. Knapp graduated from Fairport High School in 1960.
The Amphitheatre at Center Park is named after her.
Knapp, who was also a Village of Fairport Trustee from 1975 to 1981, founded the Fairport Farmers’ Market and established Village Days, the predecessor to Canal Days.
She is life-long Perinton resident, who along with husband Warren B. Knapp, raised three children in town – Bruce, Rebekah and Ryan.
Her community involvement includes: Vice President of the Perinton/Fairport Partnership, Rochester Museum & Science Center Women’s Council - Past-President, OASIS Advisory Council, Chair of Nan Johnson Legacy Fund, YWCA Legislative Liaison, Secretary of Fairport Perinton Senior Living Council, Center Stage at Center Park Committee, Fairport Historical Club, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Crescent Trail Association, LPGA Volunteer, and Perinton Republican Committee.
She was also honored as New York State Senate Woman of Distinction 2002 and Perinton Chamber of Commerce 2006 Citizen of the Year.
